ABOUT JOY
Yoga has been a thread running through my life since childhood. I grew up surrounded by diverse cultural influences, and practices like hatha yoga, meditation, and pranayama were part of the atmosphere around me. But it wasn’t until my later teenage years that I truly began to explore my own personal yoga practice.
The real deepening of my path came in 2013, during a profoundly tender time as my beloved father, Nick, was passing away. He was a daily meditator and one of the wisest people I’ve ever known. In his final days, he gave me a gift of guidance: to train in something that would prepare me for death and support me through life. It was his encouragement that led me to the Devon School of Yoga (DSY) Foundation Course, which became the beginning of a much deeper journey into yoga. I later went on to complete the DSY Teacher Training programme and eventually trained as a yoga therapist through their Postgraduate Yoga Therapy course - a training that has been pivotal in expanding my own practice and deepening my understanding of health and healing.

My teaching style leans towards gentle hatha yoga, infused with influences from somatic and yin yoga. I offer a slow, accessible approach that welcomes everyone—whether you’re completely new to yoga or an experienced practitioner seeking a more nurturing practice.
I also offer one-to-one yoga therapy sessions and hold specialist training in Pregnancy and Mother & Baby Yoga, which I studied with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli. Supporting women through pregnancy, birth preparation, and postnatal recovery is a deep honour and joy.
I steward The Angel Hall, a beautiful yoga studio and event space within my community at Bowden House. I teach classes and workshops there, and we also host a wide variety of sessions led by other wonderful facilitators - ranging from movement and singing to support circles and healing work.
In addition to teaching locally, I lead yoga retreats both in the UK and abroad, including in Morocco, Spain, and Greece. These retreats are a way to drop deeply into rest, practice, and reconnection.
In recent years, I’ve also been nurturing a growing YouTube channel, where I share a rich collection of free yoga, wellbeing, and coaching videos. It’s become a lovely way to reach people around the world and offer accessible support for body, mind, and soul.
I live in a vibrant intentional community in the beautiful Devon countryside, surrounded by rolling green hills and nature. I’m a proud mother to my adult son, Rowan, whom I raised as a solo parent from a young age. More recently, I married my wonderful husband, Jim, and life continues to unfold in rich and surprising ways.
